VIN Inspections

NMSO performs vehicle inspections for vehicles titled outside of the State of Kansas for individuals seeking to register them in Nemaha County, Kansas.

Kansas titles that are not branded salvage and Certificate of Origin titles do not require an inspection.

VIN Inspections should be done in person at the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with the exception of weekends and holidays.

***During inclement weather, NMSO reserves the right to decline inspections. ***

Required Items:
Vehicle requiring the inspection
Original Title
Drivers License

Fee of $20.00, which may be cash or check
– We do not accept Credit or Debit Cards
– We do not accept checks from out-of-state residents

If you have a lien on your vehicle and the lienholder possesses the title, you will need to contact them and request that a fax of the original title be sent directly to the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office at 785 336-2788.

Salvage Titles:
Inspection must be completed by the Kansas Highway Patrol
